TWO GREAT WEDDINGS

Over the last couple days I have been privileged to be the wedding photographer at two amazing weddings, both in amazing venues. At both weddings I got a little carried away and shot over a thousand exposures at each of them, something I rarely do. Recently I have been thinking about what we do as wedding photographers and if I thought too much about it I would question whether the stress of it outweighs the fun of shooting it, we are charged with capturing some of the most important and memorable days of peoples lives. That is one massive responsibility, when I photograph weddings like these it makes it all worth it.

Congratulations to Clive & Nicola who got married yesterday and Chris & Caroline who’s wedding a shot today, enjoy your amazing honeymoon’s and we will catch up when you get back.

CONGRATULATIONS TO DAVID AND CLARE

I had the pleasure of being the wedding photographer at David and Clare’s wedding today in Newry and then onto their reception at Narrow Water Castle. It was such a good day and a privilege to photograph, one of the nicest surprises was the priests words of wisdom during the service, they were kind, heartfelt and relative. In all the years I have been a wedding photographer I have never seen a whole church so engrossed in a sermon. Here is a couple as I wait for the images to backup onto the drives.

CULTRA MANOR WEDDING-NIALL AND HELEN

I was at the beautiful Cultra Manor for a wedding at the weekend and remarkably the rain stayed away. I have been trying my best to post every wedding I do in some form or another and have only a few to go. One of the great things about living near Belfast is that I am blessed with so many beautiful wedding venues and amazing locations for wedding photography, I am spoilt for choice with locations to take any style of wedding photographs my clients want and Cultra Manor is no exception.

My congratulations to Niall and Helen and well done for the fantastic job you did in organising such a beautiful wedding.

CLANDEBOYE ESTATE WEDDING-RUSSEL AND KATE

Today I was at Clandeboye Estate for Russel and Kate’s wedding and while the images are being backed up I thought I would share a few. There are so many that I could have added but just wanted to give you a taste of the feel and the style of the day. It was a really relaxed and intimate day with a lot of emotion and tears, a great family wedding that I was privileged to be part of.

WEDDING IN BELFAST-RICHARD AND SUSAN

Yesterday I was at a wedding in Belfast and went to Minnowburn near Shaws Bridge for the first time ever, sometimes when clients want to go to a particular location for their wedding photography it can be a bit of an anticlimax as they are looking at it from a different perspective than me with my wedding photographer hat on. This time was different and I was happily surprised, what a great place to go for ‘enviromental’ wedding photographs, it was a bit of a vertical hike and it tested my fitness but well worth it when we got there, the view was beautiful. If your wedding is up that end of town and you are looking for something different to Lady Dixon Park it is without doubt a great option.

GARY AND CATHY AT THE SLIEVE DONARD

I have just transfered Gary and Cathy’s wedding photographs to the computer and thought I would share a few with you all, here are some of the images that I liked from the day. The wedding was in Bangor and on route to the Slieve Donard we stopped off at Castlewellan forest park, as always a great location for wedding photography. At a later date I hope to post the full wedding.

THE MERCHANT AND THE MUSEUM

The wedding season has well and truely kicked off and my last two weddings have been in city centre venues. As usual it’s always a bit hard to find the time to blog full weddings, so here is a couple to keep you all interested until I get a free day to get up to date. I have been working very hard in the background getting other things done like new sample albums, brochures, upgrading computers etc. When that’s all done I’ll get back to blogging, try stopping me !

TEN FROM SUNDAY

I have just transfered the wedding I was shooting at The Old Inn on Sunday for Gerry and Claire and thought I would add a quick post of ten images that caught my eye. I’m going to try and do a ‘Quick post’ of every wedding I shoot this year of ten images that I like the most after every transfer then if I get time a more comprehensive one at a later date.

A SINGLE FRAME

Over the last week I have been going through the archives looking at weddings that I have taken in the past few months that I could put on the new gallery. I was surprised by how many photographs I take and either forget about or disregard, it’s only after looking back that I see something in them that I really like. This one was taken while the register was being signed, I had been warned by the Minister not to take any photographs until she had finished the official paperwork so while I was waiting for the nod I took this photograph.

It’s in these moments when the pressure is off that I see the other things that make up a wedding day, it’s only when I slow down and look around me that I take truly creative pictures. The lesson I learned is to approach every wedding with an open mind, slow down (quality is better that quantity) and learn to see what is happening around me and not just what is in front of me.

NEW UPDATED GALLERIES LAUNCHED

Over the last few days the eagle eyed among you may have noticed some subtle changes to the website, the most noticable of these is the Gallery area. I have been wanting to do this for nearly a year but with all the weddings it has been impossible to find the time to do it. At the start of the week I decided to put everything else on hold and concentrate on getting it done and the galleries updated. My aim is to show as many full wedding days as possible at some of my favourite wedding venues to let you see how a whole wedding is photographed, it’s easy to put individual images from a lot of different weddings into a ‘best of’ selection but it’s more difficult to show a large collection of images taken from a single wedding day. I have not completed it yet and hope to do so in the next few days, I also want to keep adding and updating it when the wedding season is in full swing. I will also be adding the images that I like the most over the coming days to a seperate gallery.
